Information for Incoming Freshmen

When you get to campus, you will quickly discover that you will want to carry your University Card with you wherever you go.  In addition to giving you dorm access, the University Card will allow you to make purchases and charges without having to carry cash.

Your University Card:

   è Allows you to purchase food and drink at campus locations through the debit accounts

 è Provides you access to your full meal plan

 è Allows you to make copies and use the laundry rooms

 è Allows you to charge at the Bookstore and Auxiliary Services ($10 minimum applies)

Recommendations for Freshmen:

è General Debit

Money can be placed in this account on your card to be used for copiers, microfilm, laundry, and the Bookstore if you will be making purchases under the $10 charging minimum.

Copies and microfilm: 10 ¢ Washers: $1.25 each Dryers: $1.00 each

Recommendation: $200

è Food Debit (Only available to those with a University Meal Plan)

Money can be placed in this account on your card to be used for any additional food or snack purchases in the Marketplace,  Cafe/Emporium, and Law School Brief Stop,. Sales tax is not applied to this account. All money in this account must be used by the end of the academic year and cannot be refunded or transferred. Money must be put on the card in $25 increments.

Putting money into General Debit and Food Debit

Money can be added to the card by coming to the Business Office or Auxiliary Services. The student will specify by account how much money to apply. More funds can be added to the card as it gets low. Minimum deposit $25.  Each time you use your card for a purchase, the register will display your remaining balance.
